By faith – men and women heard God’s promises and believed Him.  They are in the Hall of Faith in Hebrews chapter 11.

Faith – what is the Biblical definition of faith?
(NASB) Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

Sixteen men and women are specifically named in Hebrews 11 and many more are included in broad categories.  They lived, and died, by faith in God and His words.

(Amplified Bible) Hebrews 11:39-40 “And all of these, though they won divine approval by [means of] their faith, did not receive the fulfillment of what was promised,
40 Because God had us in mind and had something better and greater in view for us, so that they [these heroes and heroines of faith] should not come to perfection apart from us [before we could join them].”

God promised the hope of eternal life in the far distant past.  He cannot lie, because He is God.  His word does not change…what He said in the beginning is still in effect today.

(NASB) Titus 1;2 “…in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago.”

That is Good News!  Rejoice!

Take it to heart ~

To receive God’s promise of hope, a sure hope and not a wishful hope, we ask Jesus to be our Savior.  For we cannot do enough good works to get into heaven, we need Jesus!

(NASB) Hebrews 6:18 “so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.
19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil,
20 where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever…”

Faith in Jesus Christ is a sure anchor for your mind, your emotions and your will (your soul).
