It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words.  The living God used “pictures” to explain His reality.

God’s pictures are not shown on a screen of any kind.

He uses “pictures” as a shadow to reveal the substance of His reality.

His “pictures” are of real people, real places and real circumstances to show us His reality.

One example among many: the office and duties of a high priest.  In the days of the Old Testament, a high priest offered both gifts and sacrifices.  This is a “shadow,” or a “picture” of the High Priest in heaven today. (Hebrews 8:3)

Jesus is in heaven today.  There He is serving as High Priest.  He has already offered the gift of Himself and sacrificed a blood sacrifice for sins (when He died on a cross).  He does not need to repeat that sacrifice, it is a done deal.

Insight: the earthly high priest in the days of the Old Testament and the New Testament was an example, a copy, a shadow of the heavenly reality that is now a fact.

Another example of God using a “picture” or a “shadow” to explain a heavenly reality is the tabernacle.  Moses was to make a tent according to God’s exact instructions…and he did.  That tent (tabernacle) was a “shadow” of the heavenly tabernacle.  (Hebrews 8:5)

On what are you depending for your salvation?  Are you depending on man’s way to reach heaven – however you understand that way to be…OR are you depending on God’s way?

On what are you depending for your salvation and eternal life?  Are you depending on shadows or on God’s reality?

God’s reality is Jesus Christ ~  the High Priest who offered Himself for your sins.  He became the perfect sacrifice that God the Father accepted in your place.  Jesus was without sin; however, you and I sin.  We need a Savior.  We need Jesus to be our Savior!  What is our part?  We need to receive such a great salvation.

The reality of what God has done, is doing, and will continue to do is astounding.  Today is the day to repent, receive Jesus as Savior and rejoice in such a great salvation.
