To what lengths has the living God gone for you?  He sent His only begotten Son to take your place on the cross and to suffer for your sins, so you won’t suffer God’s wrath.  That is what He has done for you…if you receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord.
(John 3:16-21)

Willful abandonment of God’s heavenly gifts and the wonderment of the Holy Spirit, having been introduced and even studied God’s word and understood that His power is available…is apostasy.

Apostasy is turning one’s back on God, abandoning faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  So much potential and blessing…and rejecting the Giver of such gifts…will be judged.  Indeed, the person who abandons such treasures judges himself/herself by their choice to harden their hearts and reject the Giver of life.

Such people are holding the Son of God in contempt, shame and public disgrace.
They have not received the Lord Jesus as their Savior, they have not been “born again” into the family of God…they have had opportunities, repeatedly, and have refused the Savior.

(NASB) Hebrews 6:4-6 “For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,
6 and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.”

Apostasy is abandonment of faith in the living God.

God’s judgment comes from our personal choices…

The following is an illustration of being judged by our own choices – belief in God and His provisions of salvation – or – rejection.

(NASB) Hebrews 6:7-8 “For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God;
8 but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and close to being cursed, and it ends up being burned.”

Turning away from God and His blessings leads to thorns and thistles and the certain judgment of God.   A hardened heart leads to being cursed and having a life which yields thorns and thistles.

We are warned about our choices –
our choices do affect out eternal destiny.
