Where do you turn for help in living day after day?  Too many times, we turn to ourselves – and that is never enough help.  Too many times, we turn to others for help; and they also, are never enough.

To whom do you turn for help in the pressures of living?
(NASB) Hebrews 4:16 “Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

“Therefore” – “for this reason.”  Consider this, followers of Christ: we need, absolutely need, to turn to Jesus.  Why?  He is our High Priest as well as Savior.  He can sympathize with our weaknesses.  He was tempted in all things (yet without sin) – the very things you and I are tempted with, day after day.  (Paraphrase of Hebrews 4:15)
It is for this reason that we are to draw near to Jesus.

How can anyone go close, draw near, to Jesus?
*We can draw near to Jesus with confidence – intentionally going to Him in prayer.

*With confidence – go to His throne of grace.  He never turns away or rejects anyone seeking Him.

*We are to receive His grace – He gives it freely, without your need to prove yourself.  You do not “earn” his grace…it is a gift.  And the condition behind such a gift?  You need to receive it by accepting it.

God says that you will receive His mercy and find His grace in every kind of need.  Think about that again – God says that you will receive His mercy and find His grace in every kind of need!

To receive Jesus as your Savior is to receive His mercy and His grace.  You and I need to continually receive His mercy and grace, for we are sinners.  We can say, without a doubt, “I need Jesus!”

Does He wave a magic wand and suddenly things are “all better?”  No, I don’t believe He does that.  But He does give us hope to live life in a way that is pleasing to Him.

Jesus is the answer to your needs.  As an old hymn states: “I need Thee every hour, every hour I need Thee.”  Yielding to Him is the first step.  Daily, step by step, you trust Him to work in your circumstances and in your heart.

Followers of Christ – with confidence draw near to Jesus – He is our merciful High Priest.  He is faithful to give us His mercy and His grace.

The importance of Jesus as your Savior and High Priest cannot be over-emphasized…every moment…throughout your day.

Followers of Christ can say, with confidence: “I need Jesus!”

God is waiting and desires us to call out to Him as we face our problems, concerns, obstacles, challenges and opportunities.
