The following is a paraphrase of Hebrews 3:19 and Hebrews 4:1-11.

The Israelites could not enter the rest God intended for them in the Promised Land because of their unbelief.  (See Numbers 13:1-33, 14:1-25)

God’s promise of rest is given to all.  Be warned; unbelief does not allow anyone to enter God’s intended rest.  Faith in God and His word is the key which unlocks the door to God’s rest.

One of the prophecies of David warns you and me…

(NIV) Hebrews 4:7
“Today if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.”

We are warned not to refuse or reject the living God…we are not to harden our hearts.

A Sabbath day remains, a day of rest for God’s people.  We are promised rest; we are to be diligent in entering the rest of God.  We are to know and experience God’s rest as followers of Christ Jesus.

We are not to follow the bad example of those who disobey God and His words. Therefore, for this reason, we too must be diligent in entering God’s rest.

What example are you to those with whom you have contact?  Do you worry, have anxiety, fret and fume over the things which are in your life or in your circumstances?

We are to rest in God – there is the only place of contentment and freedom from worry.

St. Augustine said, “Thou (God) awakest us to delight in Thy praise; for Thou madest us for Thyself, and our heart is restless, until it rest in Thee.”

Jesus said…
(NIV) Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Come to Jesus and find the rest that only He gives.
All followers of Christ are to find their rest in their Savior.
His name is Jesus.
