The importance of “therefore”
The word “therefore” is an interesting word and it is often used by the writers of the books of the Bible. The dictionary defines “therefore” as “for that reason” or “consequently.”
If the word “therefore” is used in your life, this moment…what would it mean?
What you choose to do today will be a “therefore” tomorrow.
In your interactions with others…it is usually a “therefore” or “for that reason” or “consequently.”
A “therefore” is a reaction or a response to what has happened in the past. Is it time to make a major change in how you think of another? Is it time to let go and forgive another for a perceived wrong?
(NASB) Ephesians 4:30-32 “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.”
When you are bitter and angry…therefore…for this reason…consequently…you will viciously use words against another and perhaps even harm them.
“…just as God in Christ also has forgiven you”…Choose to be kind to that same person, forgiving them from your heart…therefore…for this reason…consequently…you will have a completely different attitude which will affect your actions.
God has said don’t go on thinking in the old way, we need a changed way of thinking; a changed response to people you may not care for! “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God.”
The living God uses the word “therefore” throughout Scripture…it is an important word. When you read/study the Holy Bible…become aware of “therefore.” Read the verses before that word so you can follow what is said after the “therefore.”
Who comes to mind when you think bitterly or with feelings of anger? God says “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.” (Underlining added)The next time you talk with that person…will you have a different response to them? Will the “therefore” in the way you even think of that person be with kindness and with a tender-hearted attitude? Will you extend forgiveness to the one you have only tolerated?
What “therefore” will follow when you next talk with that person? It is your choice…bitterness, anger, slander, malice…ugly (and sinful) attitudes. Or will your “therefore” be followed by kindness and Tender Loving Care because you have forgiven?
The importance of “therefore” in your life
cannot be overstated…
One way to pray…‘Lord, make me a blessing in that person’s life.’
