God’s words are always fulfilled ~ God’s way.  People only think they know how God will work – then He surprises us and does it even better.

The living God works wonders to fulfill His words.

Prophecy of Messiah ~ born in Bethlehem
(NASB) Micah 5:2 “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Too little to be among the clans of Judah,
From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel.
His goings forth are from long ago,
From the days of eternity.”

Actual Events
Consider Joseph and Mary – she is pregnant and they live in Nazareth.  That is many miles from Bethlehem.  How did they get to Bethlehem?  Did they plan that difficult journey so prophecy would be fulfilled?  Nope!  Don’t think so!

Caesar Augustus in Rome wanted a census taken of all peoples under their rule.  Everyone was to go to their own city, and for Joseph that would be Bethlehem…that was the city of David.  Actually, Joseph and Mary both were descendants of David.  (Luke 2:1-5)

Prophecy of Messiah’s birth ~ fulfilled in Bethlehem
(NASB) Luke 2:6-7 “While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.
7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”

The living God uses worldly events and people to fulfill His words – His way.
What you and I “see” as devastating circumstances may be the way God is working to fulfill His plans and purposes.

Messiah, not born in a capital city, but born in Bethlehem.  Messiah, not born in a palace but in a barn or stable.  Messiah, not placed in a bassinet or bed fit for a king, but placed in a manger from which animals ate.

Messiah – Micah 5:2 states Messiah was from “days of eternity.”  Messiah, the Son of God, took on humanity’s flesh and was conceived and born as a baby.  Amazing work of God.

During this busy Christmas season, hectic schedules, gifts to buy, rooms to prepare with decorations…consider, remember ~ Messiah, born in Bethlehem – for you!
