God gave Abraham explicit instructions: (NASB) Genesis 22:2 “…‘Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.’”

Abraham’s obedience: (NASB) Genesis 22:3-4 “So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son; and he split wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.
4 On the third day Abraham raised his eyes and saw the place from a distance.”

Obedience to God because of faith in Him!  Faith that what God says for you to do – you are to do that!  Faith is trusting God to be truthful and faithful.  He has the knowledge you need, to rely on His will for you – that is faith in action.  Faith in God and His Word is a trust issue.

Abraham’s example: he lived by faith in God and His words = he was obedient to God!

We are to do the same thing, followers of Christ.  We are to live by faith in God and His words and put them into action.   Abraham’s belief was lived out by obeying God’s instructions.  Abraham was a “picture” of Messiah’s obedience.

Messiah’s obedience: Jesus fulfilled this “picture” when He gave Himself as the perfect sacrifice on the altar of the cross.  He was obedient to His Father.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem and died outside the walls of Jerusalem on a cross made of wood.

Jesus, Son of God, had a choice – He chose to obediently yield to God’s plan for your salvation.  If Jesus had not been crucified, your sins would be paid — by you.  Your sins would not have been taken by Jesus.  Jesus suffered the pain of sins, yours and mine, on the cross.  He paid the price…and if we refuse, reject or ignore faith in Jesus; our sins will be ours to pay.

(NASB) John 3:16 “For God so loved the world (that’s you), that He gave His only begotten Son (that’s Jesus), that whoever (that’s you) believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (is that you?).”

~ Abraham’s Obedient Faith is A “Picture” of Messiah ~

Your obedient faith will be an example to others – to choose faith in Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One of God!
