The 276 shipwrecked men made it to the shores of Malta.  They were shone extraordinary kindness by the natives.  (Acts 28:1-2)

(Amplified Bible) Acts 28:7 “In the vicinity of that place there were estates belonging to the leading man of the island, named Publius, who welcomed us and entertained us courteously three days.”

Publius extended hospitality…storms end…the restoration of body and mind is a welcome relief.

After reading and studying about this episode in the life of Paul, I will always think of those natives and Publius as people who extended hospitality.  What a great reputation to have!

(NASB) Acts 28:8 “And it happened that the father of Publius was lying in bed afflicted with recurrent fever and dysentery; and Paul went in to see him and after he had prayed, he laid his hands on him and healed him.”

Extending hospitality had a bonus for Publius and his father.  The power of God was given to Paul to heal his host’s father.

Extending hospitality also resulted in many healed.
(NASB) Acts 28:9 “After this happened, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases were coming to him and getting cured.”

Extending hospitality honors and gives respect.
(NASB) Acts 28:10 “They also honored us with many marks of respect; and when we were setting sail, they supplied us with all we needed.”

To whom do you choose to extend hospitality?  You never know the benefits you may receive or the new friends you will make.
