Felix the Roman governor was in charge of Israel.  He summoned the prisoner Paul to stand before him and the Jewish religious leaders and their attorney.  The attorney misrepresented many of the facts as he presented their case against Paul.  (Acts 24:2-9)

Felix listened.  Then he had Paul speak.  (Acts 24:10-21)
Again, Felix listened but delayed a decision for or against Paul.  Interestingly, he made the decision contingent on Lysias the Roman commander in Jerusalem coming to Caesarea before deciding the case. (Acts 24:22)  According to Scripture, Lysias never went to Caesarea.  As a result, Felix kept Paul in prison without making a decision.

Felix was lenient as far as Paul’s imprisonment.
(NASB) Acts 24:23 “Then he gave orders to the centurion for him to be kept in custody and yet have some freedom, and not to prevent any of his friends from ministering to him.”

Felix was interested in what Paul believed.
(NASB) Acts 24:24 “But some days later Felix arrived with Drusilla, his wife who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus.”

When anyone approaches you and asks you what you believe about the Lord Jesus, what do you say?  Or perhaps your faith in Jesus is hidden from others, so they are without a clue of your belief in your Savior.

How do you share your faith in Christ?  Begin with prayer.  We can ask our God, just as Paul did, to give us opportunity for tactful boldness to tell others of Jesus Christ.

Paul gladly shared his faith.
(NASB) Acts 24:25 “But as he was discussing righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come…”
Think about those things Paul discussed: RighteousnessSelf-controlJudgment to come

Felix reacted to what Paul said about “the judgment to come.”
(NASB) Acts 24:25 “…Felix became frightened and said, ‘Go away for the present, and when I find time I will summon you.”

Felix had hidden motives in keeping Paul in prison.
(NASB) Acts 24:26 “At the same time too, he was hoping that money would be given him by Paul; therefore he also used to send for him quite often and converse with him.”

Felix was politically motivated by keeping Paul in prison.
(NASB) Acts 24:27 “But after two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, and wishing to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul imprisoned.”

Felix had mixed motives and also was interested in Paul’s presentation of the Gospel, but seemingly not interested enough to choose Christ as his Savior.

Do you know people who are like Felix?  Paul presented the truth of God and it was Felix’s choice…to choose belief in Jesus or not.
