The Ephesian elders were called to a seaport city to meet Paul and his traveling companions.  Paul loved those believers.  He had much to say to them as he said “farewell”. (Acts 20:17-18)

Paul reminded them of the two years he spent with them.
(NASB) Acts 20:18-21 “…‘You yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, how I was with you the whole time,
19 serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and with trials which came upon me through the plots of the Jews”

Paul revealed his reason for going to Jerusalem at this time.
(NASB) Acts 20:22-23 “And now, behold, bound in spirit, I am on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there,
23 except that the Holy Spirit solemnly testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me.”

Paul was going forward…not knowing…exactly what would happen.  Do you “go forward” even when you do not know what is awaiting you in the future?

Stepping out in faith, sailing into the unknown future took courage and trust in God for His leading.  That was true of Paul, is that also true of you?

Stepping out by faith in the unknown tomorrows does take courage and trust in the living God.  He promises to lead you on straight paths.  Paths that may mean sacrificial living, paths that may mean suffering of some kind.  But remember: God is with you!  He will never leave nor forsake you, He loves you!

(NASB) Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you.  He will not fail you or forsake you.”

Paul’s commitment was to the living God.
(NASB) Acts 20:24 “But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus…”

What is your commitment as a follower of Christ?  By your actions and your words, are you testifying “solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God”?

Paul’s continuing message
(NASB) Acts 20:24 “…to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.”

Going forward…not knowing…
but continuing to give out God’s message of grace.
