The reason Paul and Barnabas and others went from Antioch to Jerusalem…was to have a Council establish the precedent for being saved.  The apostles were in Jerusalem as well as the elders of the church…men who knew God’s word, the Old Testament.  The men living in Jerusalem had known Jesus when He lived on earth and believed in Him as their Savior.
The question that they would discuss and debate: do all males need to be circumcised in order to be saved or is it by faith in Jesus alone that saves people?

Paul and Barnabas went through Phoenicia and Samaria, regions where Gentiles predominated.  As they were going they described in detail how Gentiles were turning to Jesus as their Savior.  How did the followers of Christ respond?  They were filled with joy, and not just joy, but great joy.

Traveling on an important mission did not stop Paul and Barnabas from giving out the Good News of faith in the Lord Jesus as they went to Jerusalem.

(NASB) Acts 15:3 “Therefore, being sent on their way by the church, they were passing through both Phoenicia and Samaria, describing in detail the conversion to the Gentiles, and were bringing great joy to all the brethren.”

What excuse do you and I have for not continuing to give out God’s great news?  Not feeling well?  Don’t know the people?  Is the destination more important than the people along the way?

You and I have no excuse.  How can we boldly, yet with kindness, extend the good news as we go?  One way is to ask how you can pray for those who wait your table when you ask the blessing in restaurants.   For those who wait on you in the motel/hotel, ask how you can pray for them as you go to your room.  Notice their name badge or ask them for their name.  It is surprising at the responses and the pleased expressions.
Of the times I have done this, only one or two have said they don’t need prayer (oh yes, they need prayer in the worst way and you will know how to pray for them).  Respectfully thank them and then pray for them by yourself.

Cashiers in grocery stores (especially when the line is short behind you) are surprised and pleased you would ask such a question.  Then follow through by praying for them on your way to your vehicle.
That server and that cashier become a person and an important person to you as you pray for them.

Going from point A to point B…don’t forget the people on the way to your destination.
