Followers of Christ…the following Scriptures are a reminder of who you were before Jesus was your Savior.  The following Scriptures are the reason you needed Him to redeem you from the slavery of sin.  Perhaps you are not a committed follower of Christ…then the following Scriptures are for you also. 

This devotional will use the New American Standard Bible for the references in Scripture. 

The Problem of sin ~ for everyone
Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” 

The Penalty of sin ~ for everyone
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death…” 

The Promise of God ~ a free gift
Romans 6:23 “…but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” 

The God of the Bible’s Provision ~ for your need
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” 

God’s Proposition ~ based on your choice “If…”
Romans 10:9-10 “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” 

God’s actions on your behalf ~ what we are to profess (proclaim)
Romans 6:4 “Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.” 

Because of God’s mercies ~ we are to put the following into practice
Romans 12:1 “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” 

Promise of God ~ for all followers of Christ
Romans 8:28 “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” 

The Assurance of God ~ to all who receive Jesus Christ as their Savior
John 5:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” 

The Good Shepherd ~ Jesus Christ
John 10:27-29 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
29 ‘My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.”  

  This is why Jesus was born in Bethlehem…long years ago…for you!
