People are quick to give credit where credit is not due.  Peter and John had been on their way to prayer when a beggar asked them for alms.  Peter had no money to give but what he did have he gave.  He gave healing to that lame beggar in the name of Jesus.
That man was pulled to his feet by Peter and he could walk, he could leap and he praised God!  (Acts 3:1-11)

A crowd gathered and they were amazed at what had happened.  They knew that lame man and he had been healed!

(NASB) Acts 3:12 “But when Peter saw this, he replied to the people, ‘Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this, or why do you gaze at us, as if by our own power of piety we had made him walk?”

Peter and John never claimed to have given their power to heal that man.  It was not their piety of going to prayer that healed that man.  It was faith, faith in the name of Jesus.

(NASB) Acts 3:16 “And on the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.”

How often do you and I take credit for something that God alone has done?

What can give you and me encouragement?  We can be encouraged on the basis of faith in the name of Jesus as our Savior.  He is our strength!  He is our song.
