(NASB) Luke 23:33 “When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.”

The place of crucifixion – was outside the walls and gates of Jerusalem.
The place of crucifixion – was a place of agony and an excruciatingly slow death.
The place of crucifixion – was for Jews and others, but never for a Roman citizen.
(Convicted Roman citizens received a swift death by beheading.)

How do people today make ‘light’ of the cross of Christ?
*The cross and the crucifix seen in many churches are taken for granted – without a thought for what they represent – the death of our Lord and Savior.  (At the same time, we are to worship only Jesus, never the cross!)

*The cross and the crucifix are worn as jewelry.

*The cross and crucifix are tattooed on the bodies of men and women.
(By the way, God says we are not to mark our bodies with tattoos – Leviticus 19:28)

*The cross and crucifix are to remind us of what Jesus did there at the place of crucifixion – for you and me!

The place of crucifixion is death – death that gives way to resurrected life when we receive Christ as our Redeemer, Savior and Master.  Living by faith in Him!
God’s love for you was expressed fully at the crucifixion of Jesus!

(NASB) Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

The place of crucifixion is death and the place of resurrection is an empty tomb!
