Pilate, the Roman Governor of Judea, found no guilt in Jesus on the charges against Him – the charges of inciting rebellion.
Pilate also said that Herod had found no guilt against Him.
  (Luke 23:13-15)

Jesus was without sin…the charges against Him did not “stick” in the courts of law…under Pilate or Herod.

Jesus was “Not Guilty” yet in a matter of hours He would die on the cross for Pilate, Herod, the people wanting His death, my guilt and yours.  We are truly guilty of sin against God.
Jesus became the sacrificial Lamb of God and our sins were laid on Him as if they were His.  Have you considered the salvation of such a Savior?

Jesus was “Not Guilty” but you and I are!

We need Jesus to save us from our sins…those things we think, say and do against God.

What did Pilate do, trying to placate the crowd lusting for the blood of Jesus?
(NASB) Luke 23:16-17 “‘Therefore I will punish Him and release Him.’
17 [Now he was obliged to release to them at the feast one prisoner.]”

The chief priests, the scribes, the Sanhedrin – their carefully laid plans to have Jesus legally executed.  They had no authority to order the death of anyone.
Their plans, s l i p p i n g away; their motives giving them pressing urgency…Jesus couldn’t get away now, not after all this time…what could they say and do to force Pilate, to sway Pilate to utter the death sentence?
Tomorrow’s devotional will explore that idea.

Jesus was “Not Guilty” but you and I are!

 We need Jesus!
He died in my place and yours for our sins.  He loved (and loves) you that much!
Have you received this costly and divine gift of love?
Who do you know who needs such a gift?

Jesus was “Not Guilty” as charged…

But we are, if we do not know Jesus as our Savior.
