Conclusive Evidence of the Council’s unbelief
The sun had chased away the darkness of night.  Then the Sanhedrin, the Council of 70, could legally be called to decide a case.  These men were determined to quickly come to a legal conclusion – Jesus was to die.  (Luke 22:66)  That had been decided early on in the ministry of Jesus.  The trials before this august body were only a formality.
(Matthew 12:14; Matthew 26:3-4; John 7:30)

Conclusive Evidence Of Jesus – being the Messiah (Christ) – Rejected
(NASB) Luke 22:67-71 “‘If You are the Christ, tell us.’ But He said to them, ‘If I tell you, you will not believe;
68 and if I ask a question, you will not answer.
69 But from now on THE SON OF MAN WILL BE SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND of the power of GOD.’
70 And they all said, ‘Are You the Son of God, then?  And He said to them, ‘Yes, I am.’
71 Then they said, ‘What further need do we have of testimony?  For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth.’”

Jesus’ answer revealed their unbelief.  His answer revealed His majesty, His might, His position and His power.
With the answer Jesus gave, that sealed His death sentence – there was no more need to question Him further.  From their hidden motives, the accused stood condemned by His admission – blasphemy!  Declaring Himself the Son of God indeed!

Conclusive Evidence of profaning God
It is interesting to note that the high priest blasphemed God.
(NASB) Mark 14:63-65 “Tearing his clothes, the high priest said, ‘What further need do we have of witnesses?
64 ‘You have heard the blasphemy; how does it seem to you?’  And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death.
65 Some began to spit at Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with their fists, and to say to Him, ‘Prophesy!’  And the officers received Him with slaps in the face.”

Can you imagine treating the living God in such a manner, followers of Christ?  These men, these religious men profaned the very One Who would die for them in a space of a few hours.

And what of the high priest profaning God’s laws for the high priest?
(NASB) Leviticus 21:10 “The high priest, the one among his brothers who has had the anointing oil poured on his head and who has been ordained to wear the priestly garments, must not let his hair become unkempt or tear his clothes.”  (underlining added)

There is conclusive evidence that Jesus is the Son of God.  He is Savior and Redeemer for all who would place their faith in Him…have you?
Does your life show that you believe in Him?
