Jesus had led His disciples to the Mount of Olives after the Passover meal.  There He warned them to “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” (NASB  Luke 22:40)

Then Jesus’ own actions did what He had just told His disciples to do…pray!
(NASB) Luke 22:41 “And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and began to pray…”

Jesus would face His coming suffering…alone.
Jesus would be strengthened by His Father…alone.
Jesus knew what awaited Him in the coming hours…for it had all been foretold in the Scriptures by the prophets of God.

As followers of Christ, we are never alone…for He is with us.  When we received Jesus as our Savior, He gave us His Holy Spirit to live within.  We may be lonely for people.  But our God is with us.
Where do you turn to be strengthened in the lonely hours?  If you have God’s words, please turn to them!  The Psalms are great ways to pray for yourself and for others.  Have you ever done that?

We are to depend on God Himself…Jesus did!

When you are afraid:
(NASB) Psalm 34:4 “I sought the Lord, and He answered me,
And delivered me from all my fears.”

When you are anxious:
(NASB) Psalm 46:1 “GOD IS our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.”

When disaster threatens:
(NASB) Psalm 91:1-2 “HE WHO dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust.”

When you are tempted:
(NASB) Psalm 1:1-6 “HOW BLESSED is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.”
