Dependency on God
Jesus knew the real needs of His disciples – for they would be tempted greatly in the coming hours. The Passover meal had been eaten and now Jesus led His disciples to the Mount of Olives.
Jesus was concerned about His disciples – concerned for their spiritual needs.
(NASB) Luke 22:39-40 “And He came out and proceeded as was His custom to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him.
40 When He arrived at the place, He said to them, ‘Pray that you may not enter into temptation.’”
When Jesus gives us a warning – don’t we need to pay attention and act on it? So many times we ignore the warning or think that couldn’t mean me!
Where has Jesus given you a warning and what have you done about it? Is your mind a blank right now? Mine too. However, shouldn’t we ask the Lord to help us to recognize His warning? Shouldn’t we then ask to be strengthened to act upon the warning?
Who do you believe? Do you believe your own reasoning, your own logic and methods?
Ahem…that’s foolish!
What could your prayer be?
(NASB)Psalm 119:133 “Establish my footsteps in Your word,
And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me.”
Do you believe what well-meaning people say about God and His ways? Some people think they know, but do they? People who do not really know the God of the Holy Bible for themselves unintentionally mislead others. That too is being foolish, gullible even!
Do you believe God and His words? For His words are truth.
(NASB) Psalm 119:151 “You are near, O Lord,
And all Your commandments are truth.”
Did you know?
(NASB) 2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is inspired by God (God-breathed) and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”
Did you know?
(NASB) Psalm 119:89 “Your word, O Lord, is eternal;
it stands firm in the heavens.”
Who are you going to depend upon in this day? Yourself, others or the words of the living God of the Holy Bible?
