(NASB) John 13:1 “NOW BEFORE the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that his hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.”

Love, godly love, agape love, looks beyond the present coming suffering to the results and the reward of that suffering.  Jesus kept His focus on where He was going.
He was going to the cross, to suffering, crucifixion and death.  He knew that after all these things He would go to the Father in heaven.

Amazing love of Jesus ~ He loved His followers and even more amazing, He loved them to the end.  Some of these followers would deny Him, would run away and hide during His trials, His suffering and death.  He loved them to the end.  Godly love does that!

What can you and I know about Jesus’ love for us?
It is amazing!  He loved you and me before we were born.
(Psalm 139:13-14)
He did not waver nor turn His back on the cross – because you and I needed that kind of love!

Jesus knew we needed Him and that is why He loved us to the end of His life.
He knew He was going to His Father.  And that way was through the cross of suffering, that way was through death and burial, that way was to the glorious resurrection of life and then ascension into His Father’s presence.  (He is there at this moment!)

This is what godly love did for you and me.
It is hard to think about the astounding love of Jesus for us!
It is beyond my imagination.  Is it beyond yours?  I cannot put Jesus’ love for me in a ‘box’, wrap it up and put a pretty bow on it.  Can you?

To sit in the presence of Jesus is to be overwhelmed with His love for you and me.

The love of Jesus changes everything.  His love changes my attitudes, my motives, my actions and words.
Think about this: Jesus loves that person who cuts us off in traffic; He loves the person who is rude, crude, out-of-control.  Yes, Jesus loves those people also.

Jesus died for our sins…so we can enter into the presence of God all cleaned up.
(NASB) Romans 10:8-11 “But what does it say?  ‘THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, in your mouth and in your heart’ – that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
11 For the Scripture says, ‘WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.”

“He loved them to the end.”  He loves you that much and He went to the cross to suffer the judgment of God for your sins.  How can you refuse such a sacrifice for your salvation?
