Jesus’ disciples believed that He was the Messiah.  They also believed that when Messiah came – He would take control as King of Israel.

(NASB) Luke 19:11 “While they were listening to these things, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because He was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately.” (Italics added)

God’s plan did not meet their suppositions.  God’s word tells us that Messiah would come as the Suffering Servant as described in Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53 and elsewhere in the Holy Bible.
Today, Jewish people are still looking forward to the time that Messiah will come and bear on His shoulders the government of the nations.  (Isaiah 9:6b)

The time is coming when Messiah will sit on David’s throne in Jerusalem to rule with justice and righteousness.  (Isaiah 9:7)

What are your suppositions about life?  Marriage?  Church membership?  Your job?  Your relationship to and with the Lord Jesus Christ?

Are your suppositions based on realistic expectations; or are they based on what you think is the ideal solution to the bumps in the road, the pot-holes on your path, or the walls that you put up?  Walls that resist and/or reject God’s truths?
Suppositions mislead, causing us to go astray, tricking our thinking and/or tripping us up.

Do not let your suppositions take precedence over the reality of God and His truths or His timetable!

What am I to put into the place of my “suppositions”?

(NIV) Romans 1:17 “For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’
(NASB) Habakkuk 2:4 “…But the righteous will live by his faith.”

The righteous are to live by faith in God; not in our faithless suppositions.
