Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem and He passed through the town of Jericho.  As He and a large crowd traveled that road a man named Zaccheus wanted to see who Jesus was.  He was “small in stature” and he used ingenuity to see Jesus in that crowd.  He climbed a tree near that route.

(NASB) Luke 19:5 “When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, ‘Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.’”

Are you as eager, as determined as Zaccheus, to see who Jesus is for yourself?

What are some of the things we can learn from verse 5?
Jesus knew Zaccheus was in that tree!
Jesus knows where you are spiritually, are you wanting to know Jesus – better?
Jesus knew that the man was “small in stature”, otherwise why would he be in that tree?
Jesus knows your physical facts, and is not deterred by them.
Jesus knew what He wanted from Zaccheus, He wanted his hospitality.
Jesus knows what He desires from you, that you invite Him into your life and into your home.
Jesus knew Zaccheus’ desire and how to meet it.
Jesus knows your desire and how to meet it also.

How did Zaccheus respond to Jesus?
(NASB) Luke 19:6 “And he (Zaccheus) hurried and came down and received Him gladly.”  The Amplified Bible states it this way: “So he hurried and came down, and he received and welcomed Him joyfully.”

Obedience with joy!  Zaccheus not only saw Jesus, he had the further opportunity to know Jesus on an up-close and personal level.

Application:
Jesus desires to be received into your life and into your home with joy
