Jesus took His twelve disciples aside from the crowd and gave them a synopsis of what would happen to Him in Jerusalem.
  Jesus did not “make any of it up” from His imagination or from a sense of martyrdom.  He told them what Isaiah, David (in the Psalms) and other Prophets had said would happen to Messiah.

(NIV) Luke 18:32-33 “He will be handed over to the Gentiles.  They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him.  33On the third day he will rise again.’”

  Jesus had full understanding of what would happen to Him in Jerusalem; the disciples were without understanding, even after Jesus told them.
  Jesus had full comprehension of what awaited Him in Jerusalem; the disciples could not comprehend, they could not grasp what Jesus was talking about.  (Luke 18:34)

  Hindsight is always perfect, isn’t it?  After the events, these disciples would remember what Jesus had said.  Until all these things occurred, these men could not fully understand the meaning of Jesus’ words.

  No matter what is happening in your life, God’s words are still to be trusted; He knows what He is talking about.  Are you listening?

  Why can we trust God’s words in the Holy Bible to be true?  Consider the following.
Jesus said these things before the circumstances even suggested that they (suffering, crucifixion, resurrection) took place – and all of them happened.  Not only did they happen but they happened in the sequence Jesus gave.  They happened where Jesus said they would, in Jerusalem.

  What God’s words say – He means them.
  What God’s word say – will happen.
  What God’s words say – are you listening?

  What Jesus says, we can trust His words for He speaks only truth.
(NASB) Proverbs 8:7 “For my mouth will utter truth;
And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.”

  God’s word says:
(NIV) Proverbs 8:10-11 “Choose my instruction instead of silver,
knowledge rather than choice gold,
11for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.”
