“In the days of Noah…”
Jesus told His disciples of when He would come “in His day”. He will come so all peoples will see Him! How can this be? I don’t know…but God knows!
Then Jesus went on to say what the days would be like when He comes…
(NASB) Luke 17:26-27 “And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
27 they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.”
In the days of Noah, they were living without regard for the living God…so it will be when Jesus comes again…people living without regard for the living God.
Noah, his wife, three sons and their wives entered the ark, and God shut the door from the outside. (Genesis 7:16)
The floods came…the waters broke through the earth’s surface, clouds released their waters and the rains came. The people who had ignored Noah’s preaching died…all of them perished. (Genesis 7:11-12)
God had been patient with the ungodly people in the days of Noah while Noah built the ark. Noah was a preacher of righteousness and the people of his day rejected his words of warning as he built that ark. (2 Peter 2:5)
God judged the ungodly with the flood.
Some people say that if God is love then He would not judge people so that they would die.
Think about this: God’s love does warn people of His judgment on their sins. If He did not love you and me, He would not warn us. God’s love is not “soft” or a “warm and fuzzy” love; just as His judgment on sin is not “hard” or “harsh”.
God’s grace and His mercy is shown through His Son’s life, death and resurrection. It is faith in Jesus Christ by which we can be saved and know His grace and mercy for ourselves. Have you so chosen this belief?
Because of God’s love – He is patient…God will judge the ungodly. He will judge them not because He runs out of patience with them…but because He is just and He is holy.
God, in His love, has put your sins and mine on His Son. His Son suffered in your place and mine on the cross. When we receive by faith what Jesus has done for us…we are accepting His sacrifice on our behalf. He has taken the punishment you and I deserve.
Now, when anyone rejects God and His Son, they are rejecting His gift of salvation…so they will take God’s just punishment for their sins on themselves.
“In the days of Noah…” so it will be when Jesus returns….
Will you be protected as Noah and his family was protected, by faith in the living God?
Or will you be like those who perished because of not believing God and His words?
