(NASB) Luke 17:11 “While He was on the way to Jerusalem…”

Earlier in His ministry Jesus purposed to go to Jerusalem.  And His purpose did not change. (Luke 9:51)

Jesus had a destination in mind…heaven!  In Luke 9:51 “When the days were approaching for His ascension, He was determined to go to Jerusalem.”

His focus was not on what He would face in Jerusalem (and He knew what awaited Him there!).  He was not focused on His coming suffering.  He was not focused on taking your sins and mine as if they were His own (and He did just that!) when He would be crucified.  He was not focused on His death.
His focus was on His ascension!  He was going to His Father.  He was going home!
And yet…He had an unchanging purpose in going to Jerusalem…for you and me.

What is your ultimate destination – your destination after you die?
Perhaps you do not believe there is any life after you die.  This life is it…there is nothing more after it.  Perhaps your philosophy is to “live for today, for tomorrow we die” and there is nothing after that.
People without hope have no faith in the living God of the Bible…perhaps you are such a person.

Remember: Jesus was a real person.  He is a historical figure Who has been recorded and acknowledged as having lived.

Think about this: Jesus went to Jerusalem to suffer and die so you can choose to live in heaven after you die here on earth.
There is life after death for everyone…it is your choice where…heaven…or…hell.

Every person will be judged – those without faith in the Lord Jesus will receive their just punishment.  Those who do have faith in the Lord Jesus will not be punished because He took our punishment, in our place, on the cross.  It is Jesus Who saves us from the punishment we justly deserve.

Rejecting His work in your behalf will mean you receive your just punishment…yourself.
OR
Receiving His work in your behalf will mean He has paid the price and has taken your punishment…for you.

The Unchanging Purpose of Jesus as He traveled toward Jerusalem was to give you a choice…what is your ultimate destination?
