Jesus talked with His disciples and a crowd of thousands when He said:
(NASB) Luke 12:35-36 “Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit.
36 ‘Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks.”

As followers of Christ waiting for Jesus to return we are to:
Be dressed and ready
Keep our lamps lit by continually yielding to God’s leading through His Holy Spirit
Be like servants waiting for their master (for we are servants and Jesus is our Master)
Be ready to open the door when the master knocks

How are we to be dressed?
We are to be spiritually prepared with God’s armor so we can stand firm during the onslaught from God’s enemy.  (Ephesians 6:10-18)
We are to be spiritually prepared with our minds set for action – take seriously God’s word and fix our hope on the grace brought to us by the revelation of Jesus Christ.   (1 Peter 1:13)

We are to be spiritually prepared as we wait for the return of Jesus!

Followers of Christ are to Be ready (dressed in God’s armor), Be alert (keep the lamps lit, our minds set for godly action), Be waiting (for our Masters return), Be listening (for His knock), Be ready (to open the door to Jesus).

Being a follower of Christ is neither for the faint of heart nor half-hearted faith in Jesus.
He has provided all we need to live by faith ~ in this day!

Be spiritually prepared as you wait for the return of Jesus.

Ephesians 6:10-18 (a paraphrase)

Your strength is to come from Jesus ~

God’s armor from head to toe ~

Stand firm against God’s enemy – Satan ~

Remember where the true struggle is – it is against Satan ~

Resist in the days of evil ~

Stand firm by faith in Jesus (this cannot be emphasized enough) ~

Stand firm – wear the truth of God – don’t take it off ~

Wear the chest protector of God’s righteousness ~

Walk in shoes of the good news of God’s peace ~

Take up the shield of faith – the only way to put out the flaming arrows of Satan ~

Take the helmet of salvation – only Jesus can save you ~

Take the sword of the Holy Spirit – God’s holy word (prepare your mind) ~

And Pray, Pray, Pray as you wait for the return of Jesus.
