When followers of Christ pray, we are to pray to our Father who is in heaven.     (Matthew 6:9)

(NASB) Luke 11:2 “…Father, hallowed be Your name.”

God the Father, uncreated God, the Eternal God Who is the First Cause of all that has been created…(Genesis 1:1)
This God whose name is hallowed, is to be revered, honored and praised for His name reveals His character (Who He is).

Just as your name tells another who you are, distinguishable from all others, even if you are a twin, you are still unique.

How should you and I approach this living God of the Holy Bible?  Shouldn’t we approach Him with great respect and reverence?
He is holy.  We are to acknowledge that His name is hallowed – set apart from all others, and which reveals Who He is.

He is not Santa Claus, He is not a grandfather, He is not to be treated lightly or with disrespect.

His name is not to be used: to draw a laugh or as a throw away word or to “vent” anger and/or frustration.

His Name is Hallowed.  Do you hallow His name?

What privilege all followers of Christ have – to call this God, Father.
What privilege to talk with this God on a personal level and just between Him and ourselves.  We do not need to talk to someone else in order to talk with God.  We have the “right” to pray to our Father who lives in heaven.
What privilege to listen to this God and what He has to say to us through His chosen writers of the Old and New Testaments.  Hallowed indeed is His name.

May the words which come from our mouths be pleasing to His heart and ears.

‘“Hallowed be Your name” Eternal and Approachable God.  In the name of Jesus, Amen.’
