The disciples of Jesus had requested Him to teach them to pray.
(NASB) Luke 11:2 “…‘When you pray, say:
‘Father…’”

The living God of the Bible is the Father of all who follow Jesus.

(NASB) John 1:12-13 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”

God the Father desires for all people to know Him as their Father.  But all people have a choice to make, to be received as His child or not.  What is the condition?  To place their faith in His Son as their Savior.  It is only through Jesus that anyone can become a child of God!

Followers of Christ are born of God through faith in His Son.  The Father is not willing that any should perish…this is where the freedom to choose comes in.  Each person is responsible to receive Christ Jesus as their Savior from their sins.  Each person is responsible to repent of those things that keep them from an experience of God in their lives.
(NASB) 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

(NASB) Ezekiel 18:23 “‘Do I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked,’ declares the Lord GOD, ‘rather than that he should turn from his ways and live?”

It is God’s pleasure for you to turn from your ways and turn to Him and live God’s way.

It is God the Father’s will for you (for anyone) to come to the knowledge of God’s truth – that all people be saved through the mediation of Christ Jesus.  Through faith in Him you will be saved.
(NASB) 1 Timothy 2:4-6 (God our Savior) “who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.”

To Whom do you pray?  According to God’s word, anyone is to pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus.  (See the devotional for Tuesday, September 17, 2013)

Again I ask, to Whom do you pray?
