A lawyer asked Jesus a question and He replied with a question.
The Jesus question asked: “What is written in the Law?  How does it read to you?”
(NASB) Luke 10:26

The answer the Lawyer gave:
(NIV) Luke 10:27 “…‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

This is what the lawyer needed to do to “inherit eternal life.”  (Luke 10:25).  God’s word tells you and me “how to” be assured of eternal life.
When we choose to love the Lord our God with our entire being, personality and character we will desire to obey His words which lead to life with Him.

Out of love for the living God, you will want to obey His words.  Total love for the God Who is love!  All-out love for the God of the Bible Who sent His Son to take your punishment for your sins when He died.

Did you notice that Jesus mentioned what you are to do?  That is to love your neighbor as you do yourself.  First, you are to love the Lord your God with your entire being.  It is about God.  When we have a right view of God we will have a right view of our neighbor and ourselves.

Followers of Jesus, we are to love God and when we love Him we will desire to do what He says.  We are to believe in His Son and we will have eternal life.  (John 6:40)

Followers of Jesus, just think!  We have this life time to love our God and then to love our God for eternity…infinity and beyond!
