God the Father said to three disciples of Jesus: “This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!”  (NASB Luke 9:35)

  For all followers of Christ…it is the Lord Jesus, God’s only begotten Son, His Chosen One to whom we are to listen.  Do you?  As you read God’s word in the Bible, are you reading as if it is Jesus talking to you?  If you do, are you listening?

Jesus revealed Himself to His followers in a variety of ways, and He made some “I am…” statements.

“I Am…” 
(NASB Exodus 3:14)  The living God told Moses His name, “I Am Who I Am!”  Consider that title.  It reveals ‘being’: the Lord God is now, being in the present, being alive.  This is the God we are following as believers in Jesus Christ.
When you pray, upon whom do you focus, yourself or the “I AM” Who is the living, present God?

“I am the Bread of life.”
(NASB John 6:35, 51)  As you walk through this day, upon whom are you relying for strength and help?  Is the very “Bread of life,” the Lord Jesus Christ your focus, your Redeemer, your Lord?

“I am the Light of the world.”
(NASB John 8:12)  From where do you gain understanding of God…are you turning to “the Light of the world” for your guidance in the darkness of the world?

“I am the Door of the sheep.”
(NASB John 10:9)  Through whom are you hoping to gain heaven as your destination?  The only door is belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.

“I am the Good Shepherd.”
(NASB John 10:14)  Does the Lord Jesus know you and do you know Him as your “Good Shepherd”?

“I am the Resurrection and the life.”
(NASB John 11:25)  Have you received the resurrection and life of Christ in yourself through belief in Him?

“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
(NASB John 14:6)  What way, what truth, what life have you chosen to believe in?  Good News!  Jesus is the Way, He is the Truth!  No one comes to the Father but through faith in Jesus!

“I am the True Vine.”
(NASB John 15:1)  Followers of Christ: Jesus is the “True Vine,” and we are to abide, live in constant dependency, on Him!  Expect to be pruned for a fruitful life!

“I am the Alpha and the Omega.”
(NASB Revelation 21:6)  Are you comforted from the fact that Jesus is the Beginning and He is the End for all His followers?  Only Jesus gives the water of life to all who come to Him and He gives it freely!

Listen to the Lord God’s Chosen One!
