What are some of the lessons that can be learned from Jesus giving instructions to His twelve disciples?  What are some of the lessons that can be applied to your life?

Instructions for ministry
(NASB) Luke 9:1-2 “AND HE called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.
2 And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to perform healing.”
1- He gives His power to do what is needful to fulfill His call for you.

Instructions for the journey
(NASB) Luke 9:3 “And He said to them, ‘Take nothing for your journey, neither a staff, nor a bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not even have two tunics apiece.”
2- Use what He tells you to use and depend upon His provisions for you, so you won’t be weighed down with unnecessary “stuff”.

Instructions for reception by others
(NASB) Luke 9:4-5 “Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that city.
5 ‘And as for those who do not receive you, as you go out from that city, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”
3- Act responsibly, do not be a “gad-about.”
4- Do not waste time trying to convince people of God’s truth when they are not receptive to the message.

Instructions acted upon
(NASB) Luke 9:6 “Departing, they began going throughout the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.”
5- Put God’s instructions into action – doing what He says to do (being obedient to His words).
6- Blessings follow obedience to doing God’s words, God’s way and for God’s purpose.
7- People heard the Gospel then, and when you share God’s words with others…they hear the Gospel today.
8- People were healed by those twelve disciples, and people receive healing today by the power of God at work through His followers.
