What are some of the lessons which can be learned from this true and historical story of Jesus and a Roman centurion’s great faith?  (Continued from yesterday’s devotional.)

(NASB) Luke 7:6-8 6 “Now Jesus started on His way with them (Jewish Elders); and when He was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to Him, ‘Lord, do not trouble Yourself further, for I am not worthy for You to come under my roof;
7 for this reason I did not even consider myself worthy to come to You, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8 ‘For I also am a man placed under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.’”

(Some) Lessons on Intercessory Prayer:
Influential people and personal friends who are followers of Christ may be asked to pray for your need.
1- Influential people are those who go to Jesus with their past experience with you and with Him.
2- Personal friends who know Jesus and are vitally interested in you and will be glad to intercede in your behalf.

You may be like the centurion who did not feel worthy for Jesus to come “under your roof” yet you know He has the authority and power to help you in your situation.

Recognition of Jesus’ worthiness and your unworthiness before Him…should never stop you from asking for His help…for yourself or through another intercessor in your behalf.

It is important to rely on godly men and women to pray for you…those who believe in the Holy God of the Bible.

Understanding Jesus’ authority and power from God the Father is to increase your faith in Jesus’ power to act in your behalf.

What is your understanding of Jesus’ authority for your needs?
(NASB) Luke 7:9-10 9 “Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled at him, and turned and said to the crowd that was following Him, ‘I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.’
10 When those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave in good health.”

The Roman Centurion’s faith was in Jesus’ authority to act and in His power to enforce His action.

Where is your faith in Jesus placed?
