Palm Sunday…what is the significance of Palm Sunday to Christians?  It was the day Christ entered Jerusalem on the back of a donkey…a day of acclamation and rejoicing by the people as Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem.  It began the last week of Jesus’ life and prophecy was fulfilled.

A king seeking peace would ride a donkey and the crowds proclaimed Jesus as king:
(NIV) John 12:13 “…‘Hosanna!
‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’
‘Blessed is the King of Israel!’”

Jesus fulfilled the prophecy:
(NASB) Zechariah 9:9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
He is just and endowed with salvation,
Humble, and mounted on a donkey,
Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

Jesus came the first time to redeem people from their sins.  He came to make peace between sinners and the living God (Who is holy and without sin).  He paid the price of my sins and yours when He went to the cross within the week after entering Jerusalem.

Palm Sunday ~ A Time for Rejoicing!

Who is your Redeemer?  Is it yourself or someone you admire greatly and believe in?
Who is your Savior?  Is it yourself or someone you admire greatly and believe in?
Who is your God?  Is it yourself or someone you admire greatly and believe in?
Who is Jesus to you?  He alone is Redeemer, Savior, God…there is none other by whom you can be saved.  (Romans 10:8-13)
Who do you proclaim and acclaim by your motives, actions and words?

Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.  He came to procure peace for you.

Palm Sunday ~ A Time for Rejoicing!

A king seeking war would ride a horse.  And the next time Jesus enters history, He will be riding a horse!  He will come as the Righteous Judge. He will make war on sin, Satan and those at war with Him.  (Revelation 19:17-19)
(NASB) Revelation 19:11 “And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.”

When will Jesus come again?  We do not know the time or the date.  Only the Father knows and the followers of Christ can trust Him for the perfect timing…consider the perfect timing of Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection.

Palm Sunday was a fulfillment of prophecy…Jesus’ death was a fulfillment of prophecy…Jesus’ resurrection also fulfilled prophecy. (Jesus foretold His resurrection as He foretold His death to His disciples.)

Jesus will again fulfill prophecy when He returns as King of kings and LORD of lords! (Revelation 19: 16)

Followers of Christ: Rejoice! Your King is coming…
