Open My Blind Eyes, Lord
Jesus told a parable using a blind man as an illustration.
(NASB) Luke 6:39 “…‘A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit?’”
What may be the results of a blind person trying to lead others who are also blind?
Pitfalls are waiting for those who do not “see” them.
What are some of the pitfalls?
Attitudes of pessimism may dominate; even control your thoughts, words, motives and actions. Rationalizing your pessimistic outlook reduces the need to take responsibility for your thought processes.
Depression may be a part of the picture when we try to defend where we are “blind”.
An unteachable attitude may lead to failure and falling into a vicious cycle of blaming others without taking responsibility for our own attitudes.
God’s words are pointed, practical and prolific – we need to be teachable and responsive to His teachings. Being teachable is to change our thought patterns, our motives, our words and actions to line up with God’s ways.
When we need to change, it can be hurtful and sacrificial. We will probably need to give up some favorite way of thinking and even the way we do things.
One of the outcomes of living God’s way is that it is always for our best, from His point of view.
And we will be pleasing Him.
Where are you blind? Are you teachable under God’s tutelage?
(NASB) Luke 6:40 “A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.”
Who is your teacher? If it is God, expect Him to train you in His ways.
What blessing it is when you and I become teachable with Him as our Teacher.
Jesus said “A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.”
Do you want to become more like Jesus in your way of thinking?
‘Open my blind eyes Lord to “see” Your truths
as you teach me Your ways.’
