God’s Standard for Christ’s Followers
There are times when we may become hypercritical of other believers and what they eat!
What does God’s word say about our choices of food and drink?
God levels the playing field…all, all will stand before His judgment seat.
(NASB) Romans 14:1-4 “NOW ACCEPT the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions.
2 One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only.
3 The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him.
4 Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.”
Christ’s followers have the high standard of God by which we are to live.
God is just and He will judge each and every one by His standards.
How you and I interact with other believers in Christ Jesus is important to God, even in the area of our attitude toward another’s eating habits.
(NIV) Romans 14:10-13 “You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. 11 It is written:
‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
‘every knee will bow before me;
every tongue will confess to God.’
12 So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way.
By whose standard are you living?
(NIV) Romans 14:19 “Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall.”
By whose standards are you judging another?
Are you living out God’s word so others see Jesus?
