Jesus said:
(NASB) Luke 6:31 “Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.”

Uh-oh!  Not fair!  That would mean you and I would have to give up:
Getting even
Taking revenge
Suing another
Feeling sorry for ourselves and wanting others to feel sorry for us too
To forgive without any grudges
To not carry anger around like extra baggage
Not reciprocate with harmful and hate-filled words
(What would you add to this list?)

What should you and I need to recognize and realize?
How we treat others with kindness and consideration may not be returned in kind.
For the follower of Christ that is sacrificial love and obedience to the teachings of Jesus.

Jesus stated the positive approach in our interaction with others.
If we put it negatively: we are not to treat others as they negatively and hurtfully treat us.
Because followers of Christ love Him as their Savior, we are to treat others as we want them to treat us.

(NASB) Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

Sacrificial living is the standard by which we are to live.  Is it easy?  No, it isn’t.  Self gets in the way…and self doesn’t like “giving in” to others, especially when they are not nice to us.

By what standard are you living?
Are you living by the world’s standard of “my” rights, “my” way, me, me, me?
Are you living by the standard Christ Jesus sets for you?

“Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.”
