Jesus turned what people see as valuable and to be desired into a “woe”, a warning.
What is a “good thing” in today’s world may be not so good in the sight of God.

Are you rich with the things that make life easy?  Watch out, you may be poor in the sight of God.

(NASB) Luke 6:24 “But woe to you who are rich, for you are receiving your comfort in full.”

Jesus had said in Luke 6:20: “…Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.”

You may have a lot of what makes it easy to live “the good life”, but do you recognize your need of Jesus as your Savior, every day?  If you do not, you are poor, impoverished.

Followers of Christ…how poor we are when we do not put God first in our everyday lives.  It is God’s riches upon which we are to rely…not on what we have in our homes, our garages, our social lives.

When you think of your life, what comes readily to mind?
Is it God first?  If not, what do you need to begin doing to remedy that?

Rich man?  Poor man?  Under which heading do you “fit”?
