Jesus taught that the Sabbath was made for people…and people were not created for the Sabbath.  Jesus demonstrated this several times when He healed people on the Sabbath and even did so in a synagogue.

The Sabbath is the seventh day of the week.  Yet, followers of Christ celebrate and worship God on Sunday, the first day.  Why?  Because Christ Jesus was resurrected on the first day of the week…as His followers we honor Him by worshiping Him on Sundays.              (Luke 24:1-8)

Worship can happen at any time, however, Sunday is the day the earliest church celebrated Christ Jesus’ resurrection.

In the book of Genesis 2:1-3, Scripture states that on the seventh day God completed His work, He rested from His work and He blessed the seventh day.  He sanctified it (set it apart) because He rested from all His work.

One of the Ten Commandments is found in Exodus 20:8: “Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.”

What day do you set aside to consider God, to intentionally worship Him and to honor Him?

God has made a day for you to be refreshed and rested.  What day do you “rest” from your usual activities?

(NASB) Mark 2:27 “Jesus said to them, ‘The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.’”

The Sabbath was made for your best, for your good,

by the living God of the Holy Bible.
