From where do you get your authority for what you do today?  Is your authority through your job and the people who are ‘over’ you?  Is your authority through a church organization?  Is your authority from a group of people?

Is your ultimate authority from God in all of these instances?  OR do you take your authority from yourself?

(NIV) Luke 5:17 “One day as he (Jesus) was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem, were sitting there.  And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick.”

“Power” can be defined as authority, strength.
(NASB) Matthew 28:18 “And Jesus came…, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and earth.”

From where or from Whom did Jesus get His authority, His power to heal and to teach?
Jesus’ authority was given to Him by His Father.  His authority and power and strength is over heaven and earth ~ far reaching in scope.

(Amplified) Acts 2:22 “You men of Israel, listen to what I have to say: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man accredited and pointed out and shown forth  and commended and attested to you by God by the mighty works and [the power of performing] wonders and signs which God worked though Him [right] in your midst…”

From where do you get your authority as you teach a Sunday School class, a Bible study, give a godly lecture or a sermon?  From where does the power to teach God’s truths come?

(NASB) Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”

(Amplified) 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.”

(NASB) Jude 1:24-25 “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless and with great joy,
25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever.  Amen.”

Jesus’ authority was before all time, is now and will be forever and ever and ever.

Jesus’ authority, His power is available for you…this day!
