Authentic Authority of Jesus Christ
Jesus’ words are words with authority…not assumed authority, nor arrogant authority and not with presumptuous authority.
Have you observed people who have assumed authority that is not rightfully theirs? Perhaps you have seen men and women who are arrogant with the authority which comes with their position of power. Still others take authority presumptuously, taking more authority than was originally intended for their positions to wield.
Jesus is in sharp contrast to the above types of authority seen in today’s cultures. His authority is authentic and credible. He has the backing of His Father, Who indeed, has given Him all authority.
(NASB) Matthew 28:18 “…All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”
There is no place in all of creation where Jesus does not have authority. Jesus has been given ALL authority by God the Father: in every place, in every time, in eternity past and in eternity future. (See Ephesians 1:19b-23)
When Jesus taught, He taught with authority…His rightful authority as the Son of God.
(NASB) Luke 4:31 “And He came to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and He was teaching them on the Sabbath;
32 and they were amazed at His teaching, for His message was with authority.”
What person’s teaching do you believe? Whose authority do you choose to follow?
To follow Jesus is to be under His authority. To follow Jesus is to do what He says to do. What He teaches us through His word, the Holy Bible, is with authentic authority. His authority is for all time, in every place, in the everydayness of our lives.
It is Jesus Who is able to keep you from stumbling, to make you stand in the presence of His glory. Think about that! He is able to make you without blame and to give you great joy because of standing in His presence. It is to the only God our Savior, it is through the Lord Jesus Christ, we give Him glory, majesty, dominion and authority in our lives. (Jude 1:24-24)
The authentic authority of Jesus is for you today, tomorrow and forever and ever and ever.
