Waiting on God is to trust Him for every part of your life…

Jesus said to His hometown:
(NASB) Luke 4:24-26 “And He said, ‘Truly I say to you, no prophet is welcome in his hometown.
25 ‘But I say to you in truth, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land;
26 and yet Elijah was sent to none of them, but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.”

Elijah was told to “wait” by God.  (NASB) James 5:17 “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.”

He prayed for a long time and the results were drought and famine on the whole land.    (1 Kings 17:1)

Why did the Lord God have Elijah pray in this way?  Because King Ahab began to cause Israel to worship and serve the false god Baal.

After the Lord God had Elijah confront the priests and prophets of Baal, He would prove Himself to be God.
Then Elijah waited for it to start raining…and he prayed earnestly while he waited.        (1 Kings 18:41-46)

Elijah believed God’s words to him…and he acted upon the next thing to do which God told him.  He had to wait on God for direction…and he waited…and prayed.

How are you waiting?
(NASB) Proverbs 3:5-7 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the LORD and turn from evil.”

Wait…Waited…Waiting…

How are you waiting?
