The devil tempted Jesus to bow down to serve him.

(NASB) Luke 4:5-8 “And he led Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said to Him, ‘I will give You all this domain and its glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.
7 ‘Therefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours.’
8 Jesus answered him, ‘It is written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD AND SERVE HIM ONLY.’”

Jesus overcame this temptation of Satan by saying, “It is written…”  How do you overcome the temptations of Satan?

Jesus referred to the first two commandments and they are quite clear:
(NASB) Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.”

(NASB) Exodus 20:4-6 “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
5 ‘You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,
6 but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.”

To serve God, to worship Him, is to put His words of truth into action in the way you think, in the words you speak and into the dailyness of your life.

What does God say to you through His words of truth?
How are you putting them into practice in your life each day?  God knows your heart motives.

Others see what you do, and hear what you say; is it honoring to God?  God sees your heart, the inner recesses that make up who you are…what does He see?
