Jesus was absolutely dependent upon God as He was led into the wilderness.

The Spirit of God may lead you into a wilderness experience.

(NIV) Luke 4:1-2a “JESUS, FULL of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness
2where for forty days he was tempted by the devil.”

Jesus had been filled with God the Holy Spirit after His baptism at the Jordan River  (See Luke 3:21-22).

Jesus then left the area where John was baptizing the crowds; He was led by the Spirit (Who had filled Him).  When the Spirit led Jesus, He did not lead Him to Jerusalem to claim the throne from Herod or to the temple to take over the religious authorities’ duties.
Instead Jesus was led into the wilderness – no one was around but the wild animals and wilderness!

Jesus was not in the wilderness for a few days or even a week.  He was led there by the Spirit for 40 days…for 5 ½ weeks!
Jesus disappeared from the crowds of people, from the protection of society.

The Spirit of God does not lead God’s people into cushy ministries;

He leads them into challenging situations which require absolute dependence on God Himself.

  What are you experiencing which is confusing you?  You have been led by God into your present situation and it is not something you particularly enjoy, in fact you may not like being there at all.  Looking back, perhaps you wonder if you made a right decision “back there” in your life.

  What do you want from life?  A fun-filled existence or experiencing true joy because you are in the middle of God’s will for you?

True joy comes in being dependent on God and rejoicing in Him,

expecting Him to work in and through your life.

Your circumstances are no surprise to God.

Are you being a person who is bringing glory to God through your attitude; even in the wilderness?
