God’s Perfect Timing
Jesus described John the Baptist as more than a prophet…John had come to prepare the way for Messiah, God’s Anointed One. No other prophet had that privilege.
(NASB) Matthew 11:7-15 “…Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John, ‘What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
8 ‘But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Those who wear soft clothing are in king’s palaces!
9 ‘But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet.
10 ‘This is the one about whom it is written,
BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU,
WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY BEFORE YOU.
11 ‘Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.”
Jesus quoted Malachi the prophet concerning John the Baptist:
(NASB) Malachi 3:1 “BEHOLD, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me…”
Over 400 years had passed since that prophecy had been stated and then…God acted in history. He prepared John the Baptist and Christ Jesus to be born about six months apart. John was born first and as an adult he was called to begin his ministry…in God’s perfect timing.
God’s words are true and always happen. God’s timing is always perfect. Even though you and I may not feel like God is ever going to act in our behalf. He will, in His perfect timing.
Cling to the living God and His words…for they are for you:
(NASB) Proverbs 3:5-8 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the LORD and turn away from evil.
8 It will be healing to your body
And refreshment to your bones.”
Trust the living God for His perfect timing…in your life.
