Increasing in Wisdom (Godly wisdom)
(NASB) Luke 2:52 “And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”
Dr. Luke carefully investigated Jesus as He grew up in the household of Mary and Joseph.
Jesus kept increasing in wisdom, He continued to grow physically. He pleased His heavenly Father and He pleased people in the way He grew.
Who do you know in which you find a pleasure to watch them grow in the knowledge of God?
As a follower of Christ are you increasing in godly wisdom?
Where can anyone go to increase in godly wisdom?
Godly wisdom can be found, then studied and thought about in various areas of the Bible.
For starters: Ask God for wisdom!
(NASB) James 1:5-8 “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,
8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
Then using discernment, compare God’s definition of wisdom with your definition of wisdom and/or the world’s wisdom.
(NASB) James 3:13-18 “Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.
14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.
15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.
16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.
17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.
18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
To choose to think wisely and put wisdom into action comes from thinking through your options. We each make choices, whether we think of the consequences or not. Many times our choices have unintended consequences. Ask God for wisdom! Use discernment in determining godly wisdom as opposed to your wisdom, or the world’s wisdom.
