The following words are prophecy…yet they are spoken as if they had already been fulfilled through the coming Messiah – the LORD Jesus Christ.

As you read the Scriptures – think about what God was going to do through His Anointed One, the Messiah.  What God has done is for you.

(NASB) Luke 1:67-75 “And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying:
68 ‘Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people,
69 And has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of David His servant –
70 As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from of old –
71 Salvation FROM OUR ENEMIES,
And FROM THE HAND OF ALL WHO HATE US;
72 To show mercy toward our fathers,
And to remember His holy covenant,
73 The oath which He swore to Abraham our father,
74 To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies,
Might serve Him without fear,
75 In holiness and righteousness before Him all our days.”

Through Christ Jesus’ birth, life, death and resurrection     this is what God has done for you!
v68 The LORD Himself would visit His people – (Jesus was born of Mary)
Jesus would accomplish redemption for His people – (He would do that on the cross)

v69 Jesus – was/is the horn of salvation – (“a mighty and valiant Helper, the Author of salvation” – see Amplified Bible Luke 1:69)
Jesus was of the house and lineage of David – (both Joseph and Mary were of the house of David – fulfilling the legal requirement of Messiah as King)

v70 Jesus – (foretold by the prophets in the Old Testament)

v71 Salvation is through Jesus Christ – (promise to be saved from our enemies and all who hate us – they cannot take away our relationship to the living God, we are to live by faith)

v72-73 God’s mercy shown as He remembers His covenant – (with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob)

v74 God rescues us from our enemies so that we will serve Him without fear – (do you?)
We are to serve Him in holiness – (we have been set apart for His service)
We are to serve Him in righteousness – (which can only come through the promised Messiah)

v75  We are to serve Him all of our days – (notice it is “all of our days”, when we die, we still live and as followers of Christ we will live with Him in eternity; what glory that will be to worship Him in His physical presence!)

Through Christ Jesus’ birth, life, death and resurrection

this is what God has done for you!
