(NASB) Luke 1:57-58 “Now the time had come for Elizabeth to give birth, and she gave birth to a son.
58 Her neighbors and her relatives heard that the Lord had displayed His great mercy toward her; and they were rejoicing with her.”

God’s great mercy – joy, abounding joy, fulfilling joy – Elizabeth had a son.  The very son God had said would be born.  Zacharias had been told that she would have a son and not just any son.  He would be the forerunner, the herald, the man who would introduce Messiah…God’s Anointed One.  (See Luke 1:8-17)

  God’s great mercy – always goes beyond our limited thinking.

  God’s great mercy – had been extended to Elizabeth and Zacharias.

  God’s great mercy – had been extended to Israel – John would be the messenger with the message of Messiah’s coming to Israel (and to the world).

  God’s great mercy – has been extended to Gentiles and Jews.

  God’s great mercy – offers an inclusive salvation for all who believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord (Master).

  God’s great mercy – is a gift which can be received through a conscious choice for anyone who believes in the Son of God.

(NASB) Romans 10:8-13 “But what does it say?  ‘THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, in your mouth and in your heart’ – that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
11 For the Scripture says, WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.’
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;
13 for “WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”

God’s great mercy – is available for you, this day, in your circumstances.
