Chapter 10 of Genesis opens with “…after the flood.”
(NASB) Genesis 10:1 “NOW THESE are the records of the generations of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah; and sons were born to them after the flood.” (Underlining added)
Historically this was a defining moment.

Defining moments can be found in…a countries politics, in wars, in acts of aggression and terror, in natural calamities such as earthquakes and tsunami’s, floods, avalanches, hurricanes and tornado’s, in the calamities of death, divorce…you can add to this list from your own experiences.
Lives are disrupted, impacted and forever changed…by those defining moments.

As a follower of Christ, what hope do we have in difficult and/or deadly circumstances?
(NASB) Habakkuk 3:16 “I heard and my inward parts trembled,
At the sound my lips quivered.
Decay enters my bones,
And in my place I tremble.
Because I must wait quietly for the day of distress,
For the people to arise who will invade us.”
The prophet Habakkuk forewarned that Judah was going to be invaded by her enemies.  And the prophet was filled with fear.

No matter how fear-filled you are from events beyond your control, ‘listen’ to the prophet.
Habakkuk 3:17 speaks of disaster upon disaster…and despite the repeated disasters; the prophet’s trust is still in his God.
With this in mind…

Though your circumstances are impacted and/or drastically changed
Though famine comes
Though stock markets crash and jobs are lost,

Perhaps you can say with Habakkuk:
(NASB) Habakkuk 3:18-19 “Yet I will exult in the LORD,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
19 The Lord GOD is my strength,
And He has made my feet like hinds’ feet,
And makes me walk on my high places.”

Followers of Christ are to choose to exult in our God despite desperate circumstances and difficult defining events…no matter what…though bad things happen…Yet we are to “exult in the LORD” and “…rejoice in the God of my salvation.”

May the LORD God bless you with hope in Him…in your defining moments.
