That is one of the many lessons you and I can learn from the sons of Noah.  Noah gave prophecy concerning his three sons’ actions which has affected our lives today.

In Genesis 9:25-29, Canaan (the son of Ham) was not blessed but ‘cursed’.  The actions of Ham dishonored his father and were an indication of his attitude and choices.  Succeeding generations have born out those actions.  Hams descendants became the Canaanites and many other peoples in the Old Testament (Torah) accounts.                   (See Genesis 10:6-20)

(See Genesis 9:26-27) Japheth and Shem are blessed…and their actions of covering their father also indicated their attitude and choices.  Again, succeeding generations have proven this prophecy of Noah.

Shem’s descendants are known as Semites (See Genesis 10:21-31), the Jewish people being in that grouping.  Shem’s faith was in the living God…
Japheth’s descendants migrated into Europe (See Genesis 10:2-5).  It was through Shem’s descendants that Messiah came.  The followers of Christ Jesus do, indeed, “dwell in the tents of Shem”…for it is there a Semite, Y’shua (Jesus the Messiah) gives salvation to all whose faith is in Him.

All nations, if it were possible, could trace their genealogy back to one of the sons of Noah.
(NASB) Genesis 10:32 “These are the families of the sons of Noah, according to their genealogies, by their nations; and out of these the nations were separated on the earth after the flood.”

Will your descendants know the living God?  Will they come to know Jesus as their Savior because of your example of your faith in Him?  Your prayers for your sons and daughters are important…your actions and your attitude toward the living God are equally important.

Your choices today will affect your descendants tomorrow.
