How far back can you trace your genealogy?  People love to find out about their ancestors…the internet has many sources: county courthouses, cemetery records, birth records, immigration records…for people who want to search and research their ancestors.

(NASB) Genesis 9:18-19 “Now the sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem and Ham and Japheth; and Ham was the father of Canaan.
19 These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated.”

What is one of the lessons we can learn from the above verses?  People have a common ancestry…no matter our nationality or color of skin.  Our genealogical record, if it were possible, would go back to one of the sons of Noah and then to Noah himself.

What can you know which is important to the LORD in your genealogy?  No matter your heritage, the LORD is concerned about your heart thoughts.
Our belief in God is paramount.  My heart thoughts and yours are known to God.  Do they grieve God’s heart?  (See Genesis 6:5-6)

What you think and how you think is very important to the Holy God of the Bible.  The records of your heart thoughts are more important than your genealogical records.

At the time of the floods of judgment, only one man was found to be righteous and blameless, only one who walked with God…and that man was Noah.  (See Genesis 6:9)
The earth was corrupt in the sight of God, it was filled with violence…do you find it so today?  The genealogical record of Noah is traced back to Adam.  But also are those whose thoughts were only evil continually…our genealogical record is not that important…as compared to the record of our hearts!

The thoughts of your heart…do they please God, are you acceptable to God?

(NASB) Romans 12:1-2 “THEREFORE I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
(underlining added)

God’s will for you and me is to be yielded to Him, to be transformed by having our minds renewed…so our lives can prove that God’s will is good and  acceptable and perfect.  Are the thoughts of your heart pure in God’s sight?  He knows our thoughts; do you need a transformed heart and life?

Your genealogical record may be important to you, but your heart record is more important to God.
